THE SHOW
DATE NIGHT is a live comedy dating show that is designed to keep a broad audience engaged and laughing with its inspiration coming from the insanely popular reality dating television segment. It’s live show element draws inspiration from the most popular live podcast in the world, Kill Tony and will feature some of the most interesting single contestants imaginable.
FORMAT
FORMAT
- Date Night will feature a panel of completely unqualified comics that will interview show contestants on stage, one at a time, while the other contestants are cluelessly sequestered.
- After the one-on-one interviews, the panel of comics will play matchmaker, pairing the contestants together into couples regardless of their preferences (anything for the biggest laughs).
- Once the contestants have been paired up by the panel, they are brought back out on stage to convince the audience of their chemistry and why they are worthy of winning the cash prize.
- Contestants are then forced to sit together on a “date” for the headliner performance. The headliner and “couple” interaction will be plentiful.
- Couples are brought on stage one at a time as the crowd cheers loudest for their favorite couple. The winning couple is announced, interviewed and given the cash prize as the show wraps.

James Wennlund
James Wennlund is the creator of Date Night Live! When not on the road performing stand up, he splits his time between Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles, California.
James serves as the show’s booker as well as panel moderator during shows. James’s brand of comedy is upbeat, friendly and contagious. His topics range from the mundane of fatherhood to his life as a commercial airline pilot with an affinity for hard drugs.
Audiences leave James’ shows feeling as if they have a new friend, albeit on they wouldn’t trust to care for their loved ones, but a friend nonetheless.
